Walking Tank WT4 by Daemoria Walking Tank WT4 by Daemoria
if any of my watchers actually speak Russian, i apologize for the terrible google translations.

---

The Devourer medium Russian battle walker, commonly deployed in groups of two, has seen a rise in use in urban settings in recent years.

Pundits question if this is a sign of a future mobilization in response to the rapid global expansion of the Fifth Holy Roman Empire.

This thing looks like  it could be downed by a pot hole those feet are too tiny to support that frame

...The small feet and balancing factor of many mech designs confuses me sometimes...
...So i just pretend there is an anti-grav generator in mechs...
...not enough to fly or hover... but enough to lighten the mech... making balancing and walking fluid :D

Yea, I imagine there is something like that going on here, The tech level associated with this mech also powers flying cars and other such fantasy-sci fi techs.

yea, they are a bit small. It's an aesthetic decision of mine, more style v. reality. I might see how it looks with a larger surface area footpad, but odds are I'll keep it how it is.

thanks for the comment.

Heh, I can honestly claim to be happy to have my tank compared to that one. The Metalgear lineup has some badass mechs.

Pretty good, you know! For more realistic look and feel maybe you should add a missile launcher for anti-aircraft defence, a multi-barreled HMG for anti-infantry action, and/or smoke launchers to cover it`s advance. Or something else. Will you push it farther from the sketch to actually finished painting?
BTW, it will be "шагающий танк" (literally "walking tank") in Russian.

I plan on modeling this, and putting it into a scene with maybe the 4HRE equivialant tank.

In regard to your comments on additional weapon hard-points. Smoke, yes I agree is needed, most modern IFV have canisters, and in one version of this drawing I did in fact put a couple on the ECM (DIRCM) hard-point on the shoulder. For some reason I never redrew them when i had a crash. Maybe because I was thinking how much of a bitch it would be to maintain an integrated Smoke/ECM module. I'll probably stick some on the front 'chest' glacis plating.

As to not including dedicated AA weaponry, I guess I was thinking that this particular mech would be outfitted for specifically urban conflicts, and the ECM pod would provide ample protection form indirect missile fire. Anything within line of sight of the Primary Railgun (right arm) would be scrapped, so there is no need to load down your mech with extra weight from missile and sensor systems.

Anti-infantry. . . yes, i need something for those buggers. Maybe a coax-mounted machine gun, or another gunpod mirroring the ECM system. Whatever 'reads' best visually, I'll try to include.

And thanks for the translation dude. . . I'll make sure to use that next time.

You`re welcome!
Here are some more ideas:
How about chin-mounted HMG?
Smokers can be mounted on or inside the hull.
Are you sure to skip with missles? They are cool even if packed inside the pod.
Maybe you don`t need dedicated ECM pod - you can just add some more strange antennas to represent it.

Russians don't use X for experimental prototypes. In Russia they are called "objects" (with number), so lets say object 279 - prototype of Russian heavy tank for nuclear apocalypse, google it by the way, it looks fantastic (объект 279 in Russian)
And yeah, when you google translate - god kill catgirl.

279th is not about Great Nuclear Apocalypse or any other post-apoc-related things. Its only a kind of ATV in the line of heavy tanks. Only one ever was made. Too much Red Alert 3 was played, i suppose. =)

Actually it was exactly about that. That tank was aerodynamic like a flying saucier so it can withstand nuclear blast and had four tracks to move through the ruins.

There is no need in aerodynamics if a crew will be burned alive inside the hull during nuclear blast. Sorry. Form of the hull was make to rebound incoming enemy fire. This tank was interesting casual design. Too uncommon to place it in any action, actually. That is the cause of existence of only one moving sample vehicle.

Nukes didn't. Tanks still best protected from nukes. By the way Russian tanks additionally have anti-radiation protection inside of the hull and filters in ventilation system. Also higher pressure inside keep it safe from radioactive dust.

Many modern tanks have radiation shields, air filters, and other safety features.

"Nukes didn`t." True! More or less.
About tanks - not all and not always. And higher pressure only on holydays. =) But they are still fearsome.
Well, it seems we stealing someone`s thread. ;)
Let`s better talk about cool Daemoria`s mecha! Maybe you can throw in some more good ideas - that would be really much of help for him.
