A stage off between three of Mike Majestic's (aka ) mechs and one of mine. As it is, you only see one of the four total mechs.
(Those that watch my scraps will end up seeing the mech of my own devising.)
I will add a detailed description to the finished work...as well as color (if I can pick up a tablet...). Until then, I can't really answer any questions on the FOIL mech. Ask Mike about it.
hm. only thing i see as a potential future issue is that the gun and ejecting brass look a bit static, i cant quite put a finger on it, it just seems as if there isnt enough motion going on there. perhaps draw the gun at a slight angle, or add muzzle flash/ smoke. other than that tiny bit, it looks really awesome!
I see two scraps at the moment. From them I can see that the perspective's quite limited. Are you going to be lining them all up in a side view? Personally, I wouldn't mind sacrificing a lil' bit of detail and put 2 or 3 of the other mechas in a different plane/perspective/depth and emphasise the composition's focus on one mecha.
It's a pretty interesting take and hybrid of the two looks, I especially like the head, as I said on AOL chat it's like a dino/reptile head which was one of my main inspirations for the idea of FOILs, not Eva. One thing I've come to realize is a more realistic humanoid mecha approach and shape (especially if the machine is bio-organic) and you arrive in Eva territory. That's not really all a bad thing but obviously makes it tough to shake the comparisons. Overall I feel Daemoria's take is unique and all his own in feel. As always I like the line work, very clear and clean with a slight gestural feel. I can't wait to see your pattern breaker cammo for this.
It is supposed to be 'frozen' in time, thus the little details (water droplets suspended in mid air, the lack of bluring on the casings).

I agree with you, the 'flat' perspective can be somewhat limiting, but I intend to make the most of it that I can.
